China Births vs U.S. Births

The Chinese culture is a very interesting culture. The birth of a child is an important event to both the Americans and the Chinese. Childbirth for the Chinese is totally different from the childbirth process in the United States. I learned that the first month after delivery the Chinese women sit for a full  month this means they do nothing but stay in bed the entire time and, in some strict households the husband has to stay away as well. In China childbirth is considered a career and in the Chinese custom the first one hundred days of a child's life are celebrated by five different events. In the United States a family celebrates the birth of a child in whatever way they choose. Some mothers take a full six to eight weeks off while others may take two weeks and then resume their everyday duties and responsibilities. The impact of the birthing experience of development in comparison of the two is that one culture is more intense  and extreme than the other.

Wow! This is interesting. Yes, these particular beliefs and practices are quite diverse. I agree, that’s one of the benefits of being an American our freedom gives us the right to choose. This is an excellent cultural insight!
