Research Around The World

This weeks blog assignment requires us to view research around the world. The website I chose was Early Childhood Development Virtual University (ECDVU) Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA)
www.ecdvu.org/ssa/index.php. The three international topics of choice were: Leadership Skills Training for Administration and Parent Support Training for Caregiver, this topic is interesting to me because I believe that as leaders and professional we should acquire every bit of knowledge and training that we can to help our children, their families and caregivers and to be that support system that is so desperately needed. The topic was Assessment of Interaction and stimulation in Single Mothers of Low- Income Families: this topic ties into my topic for research concerning funding for low-income families. We are the people that children see 90% of the time and we also have to assess ourselves so that we will be able to interact with children and not be biased or judgmental towards them and their families. The third and last topic I chose was, Involving Fathers in Early Childhood Care and Development, this topic I thought was very interesting and utterly important. We have so many fathers that are not in their children lives, with that being said I believe that this would be very beneficial and a very good topic to share with those that are in places to make this happen.

What was surprising to me about the website I chose is that it is a virtual university that  has  some similarities but quite different to the online colleges we have in the U.S. But, there students they call Learners. The have a different process they use to choose students for for participation in their virtual ECE program. What was a great insight for me is that they share the same goal in mind as we do concerning the well being and the development of our children."The ECDVU is committed to improving the quality of life for children and their families in Africa. The program seeks to accomplish this through working, on a sustained basis, with ECD leaders from across the continent."  Early Childhood Development Virtual University (ECDVU).
