My Personal Sunshine
In August of 2005 I had one of the greatest opportunities in my life, I became a teacher's assistant for a five star school, MCLeod Elementary School, I was afforded the awesome task of teaching an Exceptional Ed class. This class was diverse in many ways. The class only had eight students and each student was different in their own way. Among the eight there was one little charismatic child named Taylor. Taylor was a special needs child but her personality would make you smile on a bad day. Sometimes I don't think that Taylor knew that when I was having a bad day she made it better for me. My experience with Taylor was fulfilling because although she could not speak like you and I, I knew she was receptive and learning. This was a complete joy for me to see Taylor learn something new and even more joyous for her mom to know that she was learning as well. It has been six years now and about two weeks ago I saw Taylor and her mom while I was headed home from work. I do not think that she remembers me, but she did embrace me with that big bright smile and that made the rest of my day GREAT. Everyone meet Taylor.
